Client: Bridge Boats Limited
Contact: Neville Moore
The Fish Partnership’s FishPay service has meant that Bridge Boats Limited can give payroll and taxation issues a wide berth.
Based in Reading, Bridge Boats Limited are specialists in boating holidays. The firm offers boats sleeping up to twelve people, for weekend or weekly breaks. The firm operates all year round, but their peak season is summertime, in particular August which is soon fully booked. Bridge Boats are available to the general public, and attract a lot of interest from the tourism sector.
Neville Moore is a director at Bridge Boats, but as no-one has a specific job title, he also takes care of general repairs amongst other tasks. The firm really does operate an all-hands-on-deck policy.
“At the moment we have just two employees, but in the summer we often have more than 10 people working for us. Our payroll therefore has to be seasonal.”
When Neville’s accountant announced his retirement, he recommended the Fish Partnership, telling Neville that they are equipped to fulfil all his accountancy needs. That was four years ago, and Neville has been with the firm ever since. The FishPay service is flexible enough to accommodate the seasonal fluctuation of staff at Bridge Boats Limited.
“Some people can only work over the summer holidays, whereas others work between March and October,” says Neville. “There is a lot of starting and leaving paperwork to be done, and all I have to do is notify FishPay when staff have commenced and finished with us. They do the rest.
“The Fish Partnership also deals with my personal tax issues, and keeps me informed on changes to the law. They produce their own newsletter, which I find very useful. We never had to specifically ask for this service, and we’re very pleased that they provide it. It’s good to be kept updated with things that are happening at the firm, and things that are changing in the wider world of accountancy and financial law.”
